What exactly is LED Photomodulation?
LED Photomodulation is the interaction of light delivered through Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to activate cells. This activation causes cells to produce collagen and elastin proteins resulting in skin regeneration.
How is LED Photomodulation different from Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy?
Unlike light-based skin therapies, including intense pulsed light and laser treatments, that rely on thermal injury to the skin's collagen, water or blood vessels to create changes in the skin appearance, LED Photomodulation does away with tissue trauma to effect change. Therefore, patients are not subject to the possible discomfort associated with wound healing.
How does LED Photomodulation work?
Simply put, the light from the LEDs interacts with cells and stimulates
them to produce new collagen and elastin. The GentleWaves LED system is
designed to stimulate “specific” cell changes. LED treatments can be
designed especially for your specific needs.
What do the LED treatments feel like?
The treatment is fast, completely pain free and is gentle enough to treat all ethnic skin types.
So, just how many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you require will vary depending on the
problems being treated. Since the results are progressive, you may
notice more correction with each treatment. When full correction
approaches, your treatment intervals can be lessened to three to six
month intervals.
What about combining LED Photomodulation with other treatments?
LED Photomodulation can be administered alone or in conjunction with
other treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers as well as
non-ablative laser and IPL treatments. LED Photomodulation is quickly
becoming the preferred treatment for fine lines, hyperpigmented lesions
(brown spots and freckles) and other skin problems associated with
photoaging.
